Nice Neutrals
For brighter spring days, neutrals are always a good option as they look fresh and clean. Mastering tonal dressing like this may seem like hard work, but it really is easier than it looks. Simply start with the palest colour, like white jeans, and add in richer, darker neutrals – such as sandy beige, taupe and camel – with your other pieces, to create subtle contrast. Gold jewellery as a final touch gives a feeling of warmth to the tonal look.
Burgundy & Blue
Tired of your workwear wardrobe? Pep it up with a hint of burgundy. The sumptuous shade of deep red pairs perfectly with blues, from navy to pale. A softer contrast than when worn with black, it’s a great way to ease your office-ready looks into the warmer season. Start with timeless accessories, like classic loafers, and a leather bag.
Day-To-Night Monochrome
Perfecting day-to-night dressing can be a challenge. The balance needs to be just right; comfortable enough to wear all day, but elegant enough for an evening out. We always strive for a laid-back evening look, and one easy way to do it is via black and white. This simple colour contrast is impactful and easy to achieve. A white or cream trouser (or skirt) looks really fresh for spring, so start there and add a black cashmere sweater and black accessories.
A Pop Of Red
We’re loving a vibrant pop of red thrown into an outfit at the moment – make it a part of your everyday looks, even if it’s just a pair of red socks peeking out under your jeans. It adds an element of surprise to otherwise neutral looks and feels really considered. The best part? You can do it via any part of your outfit, be it a bag, shoes, a chic neckerchief or a bold knit. A simple style switch-up to make your favourite outfits feel brand new.
Orange & Tan
Orange can be a tough colour to get right, but a lot of that difficulty lies in how to pair it up. Combining with tones of tan feels interesting and exciting and prevents the orange from overwhelming your look, thanks to its balancing effect. Vary your tan tones, from typical tan to paler shades, to stop your outfit appearing ‘blocky’ and disjointed, and carry the orange through to your accessories for extra oomph.
Earthy Tones
Rich, earthy tones work all year round but are a particularly good way to ease yourself out of the dark colours we all tend to veer towards over the winter months. Try deep khakis and browns as a springboard to other earthy hues and maintain contrast by mixing textures – such as a suede bag and croc-effect boots paired with a cosy knit – this stops the outfit looking bland and helps differentiate between the similar colours.
