“I love Gucci Westman’s products – you can really tell that they’re informed by her years as a make-up artist – and the Lip Suede is a firm favourite. Despite being matte, it feels really light to wear and is packed with hydrating peptides that plump the lips, as well as vitamins C and E to nourish. It’s refillable, too.”
“I am naturally drawn to a matte rather than a glossy lip, and I also love products that are low-maintenance, so this Hourglass lipstick is a star product for me. It’s infused with primer, giving it real staying power, and offers buildable coverage, meaning you can adapt it to your day – keeping it subtle for daytime then building it up for an evening out.”
“Beauty Pie is great at developing make-up-skincare hybrid products that offer an element of treatment as well as aesthetic benefits. This lip oil felt really nourishing and hydrating while also adding a subtle shine – like a balm but with added oomph. A new handbag essential for me, for those days when I want a subtle lip.”
“Rhode is such a buzzed-about brand, so I was keen to see if this lived up to the hype. Thankfully, it did! It’s a lip treatment that feels very luxurious and adds a lovely sleek shine. I also tried it as an intensive treatment at night, applying a thick layer before bed, and found it really helped to lock-in moisture throughout the following day.”
“A lip oil is a great alternative to often-sticky glosses. This one, by Summer Fridays, was nice to apply and offered a mirror-like shine while plumping my lips. I loved the choice of shades, too – four great neutral pinks to complement every skin tone.”
“I love the impact that this gloss delivers – I’m a huge fan of red lipstick, but have always stuck to matte or a light sheen before. Now, it’s definitely what I’ll turn to when I’m in the mood for a glossy finish, as the colour really lasted and it didn’t feel sticky at all. One of my favourite things is the in-built metal applicator, which felt really nice to use.”
“My lips can get really dry and sore in the winter, so I’m always on the lookout for a fast-acting treatment. This ointment is a new favourite for me. It visibly repaired my lips within one application, and I felt the benefit of its moisturising ingredients long after – making it a great base for a colour to be applied on top.”
“This clever product looks like a gloss but feels like a balm, with subtle shine but nourishing ingredients like lanolin and vitamin E, which lock in moisture and plump the lips. I loved the applicator, which is a nice size and distributes just the right amount of product each time.”
“This gloss took me back to the ’90s, thanks to the shimmery particles in the shade I tried, Martini. Despite worrying it would look a little too ‘glittery’, the shimmer was actually very subtle and the formulation felt very hydrating, with no sign of stickiness.”
“Testing out all these products has made me a lip-oil convert, and I particularly loved this new release from Gisou. It was so nourishing, but also added great definition – perfect for those days when I don’t feel like wearing lipstick but still want a dash of colour and shine.”
