A country house hotel – but so, so much more. This elegant getaway hosts some of the most beautiful gardens we’ve ever seen – which your massage therapist will take you for a barefoot walk in to choose the herbs to be used in your treatment. While the glorious Farmyard Pool is perfect for families, the indoor-outdoor spa pool is a much more grown-up affair. From the decadent bedrooms’ deep standalone baths to an extensive list of Hammam treatments available, prepare for a nature-filled and truly spoiling getaway.
If you like your spa treatments set to the backdrop of crashing waves, this is your next getaway. Every room at this adults-only, eco-sanctuary has a sea view – and there’s an indoor pool, outdoor natural reed pool, clifftop sauna and steam room to relax in. Influenced by Ayurveda, expect a restorative, holistic approach to wellness. Each lantern-lit treatment room has a tented canopy – rustic relaxation at its most sustainable.
A historic house that’s far from stuffy, Heckfield is all about connecting with nature through its grounds, its seasonal menus and its treatments. The food is worth a trip alone – with starry chef Skye Gyngell at the helm. But the Bothy Spa is really what we come for. We particularly love the hotel’s own range of products – Wildsmith Skin – named after its former head gardener, William Walker Wildsmith.
Overlooking the beautiful South Downs, South Lodge is a celebration of luxe design and nature. Its restaurant – The Pass – has a Michelin star. Our favourite place to relax after a treatment is the adults-only outdoor hydrotherapy pool. But the indoor infinity pool and heated wild-swimming pool come a close second. You can choose to stay in the glorious main lodge or in one of the new lakeside lodges (and yes, you can wild swim in the lake too).
A destination for Instagram influencers and families alike, Estelle Manor is a members’ club and hotel made for luxe leisure. Padel courts and mini Land Rovers aside, the spa is where you’ll find us. Nestled in the grounds is the 3,000 sq metre Eynsham Baths – a Roman style bathing hall with five pools, treatment areas and thermal cabins. Or, if the sun comes out, bring a book to The South Terrace outdoor pool and hold court on its sun loungers until cocktail hour.
While this isn’t strictly a hotel – it’s an organic farm – you can stay nearby in its selection of equally beautiful inns and cottages which are a part of Daylesford Stays. Rooms above a pub, these are not. Expect features such as 18th-century exposed stone walls, wood-burning stoves and sumptuous bed linen. The Bamford Wellness Spa – named after its iconic founder – is a haven of holistic therapies that uses organic and natural products made from the farm’s home-grown ingredients.
